Android Instructions

Step 1: Download the ZIP File
Tap the download link on the website. The ZIP file will download to your device. You may see a notification when the download completes.

Step 2: Locate the Downloaded File
Open the Files app (or My Files on Samsung devices). Navigate to the Downloads folder. You should see a file named something like "care-notes-v1.34.zip".

Step 3: Extract the ZIP File
Tap on the ZIP file. Your device will either automatically extract it or show an "Extract" option. Choose to extract the files. A new folder called "care-notes" will be created.

Step 4: Open CARE Notes
Navigate into the extracted "care-notes" folder. Find the file named "index.html" and tap on it. Choose to open it with Chrome or your preferred browser.

Step 5: Add to Home Screen (Optional)
Once the page loads in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner. Select "Add to Home Screen". Give it a name like "CARE Notes" and tap Add. You can now launch CARE Notes directly from your home screen.

Step 6: Using CARE Notes
All your health data is stored locally on your device. No internet connection is required after the initial setup. Your data never leaves your device.

iOS (iPhone/iPad) Instructions

Step 1: Download the ZIP File
Tap the download link on the website. Safari will download the file and show a download icon in the toolbar. Tap the download icon to see your downloaded file.

Step 2: Save to Files App
When the download completes, tap on the ZIP file. iOS will ask where to save it. Choose "Save to Files" and select a location like "On My iPhone" or "On My iPad" in the Downloads folder.

Step 3: Extract the ZIP File
Open the Files app from your home screen. Navigate to where you saved the ZIP file. Tap on the ZIP file and iOS will automatically extract it into a new folder called "care-notes".

Step 4: Open CARE Notes
Open the extracted "care-notes" folder. Find the file named "index.html" and tap on it. The file will open in a preview window. For the best experience, tap the Share button and select "Open in Safari".

Step 5: Add to Home Screen (Optional)
With CARE Notes open in Safari, tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen". Give it a name like "CARE Notes" and tap Add. You can now launch CARE Notes directly from your home screen.

Step 6: Using CARE NotesAll your health data is stored locally on your device. No internet connection is required after the initial setup. Your data remains completely private and never leaves your device.

PC, Mac, or Linux Computer

The ZIP download works perfectly on any computer with a modern web browser. Your health data stays completely private on your local drive.

Installation Steps

  1. Download the ZIP file using the green button below
  2. Extract the ZIP to a folder you'll remember (like Documents or Desktop)
    • Windows: Right-click the ZIP file → "Extract All"
    • Mac: Double-click the ZIP file to extract
    • Linux: Right-click → "Extract Here" or use unzip command
  3. Open index.html in your browser
    • Double-click index.html in the extracted folder, or
    • Right-click → "Open with" → Choose your browser
  4. Create a bookmark for quick access
    • Press Ctrl+D (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+D (Mac)
    • Name it "CARE Notes" and save to your bookmarks bar

Recommended Browsers

  • Chrome - Best compatibility and performance
  • Edge - Excellent support on Windows
  • Safari - Works well on Mac
  • Firefox - May need to enable localStorage for file:// URLs in about:config

Tips for Computer Use

  • Keep a backup: Copy the entire folder to a USB drive or cloud storage
  • Don't delete the folder: Your saved data is stored in your browser linked to this location
  • Use Export regularly: The Backup & Export feature creates portable copies of your data
  • Multiple computers: Export from one computer, import on another to sync your data

Privacy Note: When running from a local file, your data never leaves your computer. There are no servers, no accounts, and no tracking. Your health information stays 100% private.

Troubleshooting Tips

If the page looks broken or unstyled:
Make sure all files were extracted properly. The folder structure must remain intact with all subfolders (assets, shared, care-notes, etc.).

If data doesn't save between sessions:
Some browsers restrict local storage for files opened from the Files app. Try opening the file directly in your browser or adding it to your home screen first.

To back up your data:
Use the Backup & Export feature within CARE Notes before moving or deleting files. This creates a backup file you can restore later.

Important: Back Up Your Data

Regardless of which installation method you choose, your health data is stored in your browser's local storage. This means:

- Clearing your browser data will erase your CARE Notes data
- Uninstalling the browser will erase your data
- Factory resetting your device will erase your data

Always use the Backup & Export feature within CARE Notes to save your data to a file you control. Store backups somewhere safe—another device, a USB drive, or an encrypted cloud folder if you choose. You can restore from a backup at any time.

Your data is yours. Keep it safe.
